The Good Landlord Scheme understands the importance of handling your personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2018) and EU General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’). We collect, hold and process personal information shared with us to help further the objectives of the Good Landlord Scheme.

We will make sure that any personal information we collect and use is done so in accordance with the data protection principles.

• Accurate and up to date

• Kept for an appropriate amount of time

This privacy notice describes how we ensure our data protection principles are reflected into practice and explains what we will, and will not, do with personal information.

We will never sell your personal details to any external organisations. We will only ever share your personal information with your consent and be as clear as possible about how and what we share and why. If you decide that you no longer want the Good Landlord Scheme to store, process or share your information, you can let us know that you withdraw your consent and we will delete your information from our records. 

What is personal data?

Personal data includes basic details such as name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and notes and comments made about a person. The information may be held in paper files, electronically or both. This may include, but is not limited to: computer entries, written correspondence, emails, letters, files, photographs and video recordings.

Special Category Data data (also known as ‘sensitive personal data’) includes information on: race or ethnicity, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, genetics, biometrics, health, sex life or sexual orientation.

The Good Landlord Scheme may hold personal data but we will not collect, save or process any special category data.

Our approach

When processing your personal information the Good Landlord Scheme will always have a legal basis for doing so. We will only collect your personal data if:

• We have obtained your explicit consent, for example your consent when you agree to share with us your personal information via the Good Landlord referral forms

• We have a contract in place

We will use your personal data to provide you with the services or information you asked for and provide you with information we think you will be interested in and notify you about any changes to our service. We may contact you about administrative issues if needed and we may also collect and retain your personal data if you sen feedback about our services.
