Good Tenants


Brighton and Hove is a vibrant and interesting place to live and it can be increasingly expensive to rent in the area. The Good Landlord Scheme has a pioneering focus on landlords voluntarily renting properties at less than a market rent. We want to build a place that supports those who have lower incomes to have happy homes. 

Benefits for tenants of Good Landlord properties:

  • Rents at, or below, the Local Housing Allowance (less than a market rent)

  • A landlord who is wanting to support lower income households

  • A property located in and around Brighton and Hove 

  • A landlord committed to responding promptly to any maintenance issues

  • A landlord keen to explore longer term tenancies

To be eligible to join the Good Landlord Scheme as a tenant, your household income must be less than £30,000 per year and we will need to see proof of household income.  

Please note that we are in the early stages of rolling out the Scheme and properties are limited. If you are added to the Waiting List, this does not guarantee you a property. We hope to bring more and more landlords on board and in the future be able to offer more and more properties.

Please note that we hold a Waiting List of 50 people for prospective tenants and this is based on a first come, first serve basis. As the Good Landlord Scheme grows, we hope to extend our network of Good Landlords and help more and more people access more affordable housing.
